Spending as little as five minutes using the massager can give you a complete treatment of pretty much all areas of your body.

Besides relieving sore muscles, the massager has some other core benefits. It can speed up recovery by dispersing built-up lactic acid and increasing blood flow. You also benefit from increased athletic performance due to reduced muscle stiffness/tightness.

Theragun Elite
Theragun Elite is a premium handheld massager. It is able to give powerful and deep massages for pretty much any of your muscles.
This massage gun is among the 4th generation from Therabody, and the improvements have brought impressive performance and design upgrades.
It has five different speed options of between 1750 – 2400 Percussions Per Minute (RPM). According to the founder is the optimal speeds for muscle recovery. It can withstand up to 40 lbs / 18 kg of pressure
Don’t let the relatively small size fool you, this massager will get through the strongest of arms and meatiest of legs.
It has a lightweight and slick design and comes with a carrying case so it is easily transportable. Bring it along with you on your next long trip and you won’t have to worry about muscle aches.

Theragun and TimTam Features and Specs
To be perfectly honest, the Theragun Elite and TimTam All New Power Massager are both excellent products. They are powerful while being lightweight and will deliver great massages to alleviate pain and are therapeutic.
To make a better sense of the differences, here is a TimTam vs Theragun rundown of their features and specs. I am going to cover:
- Massaging “power” and versatility
- The batteries
- The design
- Pricing

This is the TimTam All New Power Massager.
Check it out at the official website here.
1. Percussion Massager “Power” and Versatility
Both devices can deliver a powerful massage using a striking motion, but the distance traveled is considerably longer with the Timtam which can lead to an even deeper muscle penetration. The Theragun has a stroke length of 0.6″ / 16 mm and the TimTam 1″ / 26 mm.
There is also a slight difference in the percussions per minute. The Theragun delivers between 1750 or 2400 and the TimTam just 2500.
It should be mentioned that the massagers do make some noise when operated, but it is managebale and much better than previous generations.
Massaging Heads/Tips
TimTam has the ability to adjust the angle of the massage head at a range of 90 degrees. This makes it easier to work muscles at different angles especially if you are using it on yourself. This gives it a significant advantage over Theragun Elite.
The two can be equipped with different massage heads allowing for a customized experience. This is very helpful as the need for intensity is different from muscle to muscle and besides that pain tolerance can differ from person to person.
However, where the Elite includes 5 unique heads, the Power Massager only includes one.
As you might have been able to guess extra heads are available for both massagers but as a separate purchase.
2. Batteries
Both massagers are powered by removable and rechargeable lithium batteries.
However, in terms of battery power and recharge-speed, the TimTam falls short. The Elite has 12V, 2.5 Ah battery vs TimTams 12V, 2.0 Ah battery.
Battery life of the Elite is 120 minutes per charge and takes 80 minutes to recharge. The TimTam, on the other hand, will last for about 40+ minutes of use and will take about 1 hour to recharge.
3. Lightweight Design
The massagers have a sturdy but lightweight design and weigh the same. Both weigh in at 2.2 lbs / 1kg.
Regarding dimensions, the Theragun is a bit more compact.
Both devices come with carrying-cases and are easily transportable. Bring it to work or your gym and I am sure making new friends will be easier 🙂
Although this is a subjective thing, most people would probably say that the Theragun and its carrying case looks a bit slicker or “cooler” than the TimTam. But it is a minor thing.
4. Pricing
Theragun is a more expensive choice and most people will probably want to get the TimTam because of that.
But to be fair you would have to take into consideration that the Theragun includes more things that TimTam is selling separately.
Taking that into consideration you can perhaps reduce the price difference of an estimated 100 dollars if you were to buy the extras. But you might not find it worth getting them all.
An extra massage head or two is probably useful for most, but maybe not more than that.
Both massagers have a 30-day money-back guarantee and are covered by a 12-month warranty.
Customer Impressions
As mentioned earlier, buyers of both products have been absolutely thrilled and surprised by how well they work.
Relieve sore muscles, release scar tissue and muscle knots, speed up recovery and increase performance, all are effects that the customers have praised the massagers for.
You can just take a look for yourself on the customer reviews on major online retailers.
But it is actually more than that, because not only is the Theragun and TimTam recommended by medical professionals and professional athletes, but physiotherapists and chiropractors are buying them to treat their own clients.
The only downside seems to be the high price tag and a bit of noise.
However, if you are frequently going to a massage therapist or chiropractor you should expect to require less frequent visits if you have a massager at home.
From that perspective, it can be a more convenient and cost-effective treatment method.
The Rise of Massage Guns
Since an NBA sports star was seen using the Theragun at a match (back in 2017 I believe) all kinds of athletes, therapists and massage enthusiasts alike have been wanting to get their hands on one of these massage guns.
There is already an impressive amount of anecdotal evidence that these massager guns help to alleviate muscle aches, knots, tightness, and tension.
While it seems clear to me that people are generally very positive towards these new massage guns, there is nothing new about the idea of a handheld massager.
Handheld percussion or vibration massage devices have been around for a long time. Similarly, it has been known for a long time that using them can have many potential benefits.
Even NASA has been using a device like this to prevent bone loss in astronauts.
However, I could not write all these positive things about these products without also mentioning that the scientific evidence surrounding the topic is not very clear.
It is not very clear how massage actually “works” or the extent of it. In addition, there are a lot of claims that are simply nonsense. Read more here.
Some notable effects that evidence suggests include:
- It could help alleviate delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Read more about it here (meta-analysis).
- The so-called myofascial-release can potentially help muscle recovery and performance. You get the same effect with foam rolling. Read more about it here (meta-analysis).
- Decrease to cortisol and increases to the level of the two neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine.
Making The Buying Decision
With all that being said, TimTam vs Theragun: who is the winner?
The two massagers are very similar and both should work really well for you.
Because of that, most people will probably want to pick the TimTam due to the big price difference.
But if you need to use the massager a lot and if you are interested in many different massage heads, then the Theragun Elite could be worth your money.
