Best Posture Brace On The Market

Are you looking for the best posture brace on the market?

I know I am stating the obvious here, but the best posture brace is one that fits you and your needs.

Put in another way, the best posture brace for me is not necessarily the best one for you.

However, the products listed in the table below are what I have come to understand as generally the best on the market taking into consideration the price, comfortability and user experience.

I have done quite a bit of research on this topic and written some lengthy buyer’s guides on the best posture braces and shirts. Here is a link to one of them.

And by the way, if you want to check out what I think just might be the best posture brace for you right away, you can click this link to go to Amazon.

In this post, I have done something different than what you often find in other buyer’s guides online.

Personally, I like to do research online and gather useful information to determine what kind of product I should buy and I often end up on something like this post myself.

Many of these guides lists in my opinion way too many products. I don’t know about you, but I don’t find it particularly useful to have a list of 20-30 “best products”. It doesn’t really narrow down which products to chose from.

So, for this list of products, I will present you with just 3 of what I have found to be the best posture braces on the market.

Here is a cool table showing these three products.

Key Distinction Between These Products

There are many posture braces to choose from, but I would argue that they more or less all fall into two different categories.

In the table above you see these two categories or types represented.

The first type which is also the one you see listed as number one is what you can call a “vest-type” brace.

They are bulkier other type and wearing these resembles wearing a vest. Wearing them gives a full support for the whole upper-body.

The vest-type brace can work well to improve your posture, but the downside is they are bigger, more visual and perhaps more restrictive.

The brace in the table above is actually both a smaller and more compact example of the type of brace.

The second type is a much smaller brace often called an 8-figure clavicle brace.

Wearing this will help improve the position of your shoulders and upper back. This type of brace is a good solution if you just need help to train yourself to maintain a correct shoulder position.

They are usually cheaper, but more people have issues the comfortableness and fitting of these braces compared to the vest-type brace.

Both kinds of braces will work to improve your posture, but the 8 figure clavicle brace doesn’t have the same support as the vest type brace.

In some situations this is not an issue, however often poor posture is often a more complicated issue than just rounded shoulders in the upper back.

A Closer Look At Posture Braces

For more information about the specific products in the above table, you can check out this complete buyer’s guide I wrote.

Of course, you can also check out the products on Amazon by clicking the images above.

Posture braces can be a great tool to help improve your posture. But please know that it is not a “quick-fix” or a complete solution for that matter.

The thing about posture braces is that wearing them can help you become familiar with what proper posture is, and perhaps it can assist you in training the right muscles.

But, wearing the posture brace for too long have the potential to make your posture worse.

The issue is that the posture brace (and not your muscles) is doing most of the work when you are wearing it.

The muscles need to be engaged and trained to be able to stabilize your upper body and maintain a good posture. This won’t happen if you wear a brace all the time.

It is hard to tell you how long is too long, but if you are using the brace for many hours every day, you might want to consider if it is hurting you more than helping.

As a rule of thumb, you should use the brace purposefully to improve your posture, and not just because it feels nice.

Don’t get me wrong, if you experience uncomfortableness or pain then wearing a posture brace can give you some degree of relief.

But you are not really making things better if your muscles become weaker.

The idea of wearing a posture brace is that it should also improve your posture when you are not wearing it.

Besides that, the end goal is of course that you at some point don’t need the brace at all. The end goal is not to become reliant on using the brace.

Posture Correcting Shirts

Although there is this potential issue with wearing posture braces, there are a lot of people who have used them successfully.

But there is actually another kind of product that doesn’t have this issue but it comes at a higher price.

At first glance, these posture correcting shirts look similar to normal compression clothing, but when you wear them you can clearly feel a difference.

With a unique design, they stimulate your muscles to work the way they are supposed to.

Unlike the posture braces that mechanically pull your shoulders back, with a posture correcting shirt your muscles are actually doing the work.

From this perspective, you don’t have to fear wearing the posture correcting shirt for too long at a time.

However, I know that the companies usually recommend you don’t wear them for long in the beginning.

For more information about these posture correcting shirts, you can check out this guide and this one.

Conclusion

As mentioned above, there are no “quick-fix” or “one thing” you can do to fix your posture.

Wearing a posture brace can be very helpful and a great addition to performing various exercises that both stretch and strengthen the muscles in your upper body.

Especially performing exercises can be tough in the beginning, and I think that is one reason why getting a posture brace or posture shirt is helpful.

Developing the habit of maintaining good posture can be very tough, but it is worth it for ensuring a strong, healthy and pain-free body right now and in the near future, 5-10 years from now, and even longer.
